MAIN STORY
🔥 Black Homeownership Crashes to 4-Year Low Amid Rising Unemployment

⚡ THE SPARK
Black homeownership just hit its lowest point in nearly four years, crashing to 43.9% nationwide. That’s not just a statistic, that’s families losing their shot at stability, at wealth, at a future.
It’s the steepest drop since 2021, and economists say rising unemployment, especially among Black women, is fueling the crisis. One expert called Black women the “canary in the coal mine” for the U.S. economy. If that’s true, then what’s happening now should have everyone sounding the alarm.
🧠 THE LAYER BELOW
Homeownership has always been the backbone of wealth in America, without it, the racial wealth gap widens.
Black women, often the breadwinners, are being hit hardest by layoffs and rising unemployment. That directly drags down homeownership.
DEI rollbacks in both the public and private sector are creating fewer opportunities for Black workers to move up, even as costs climb.
Meanwhile, Hispanic homeownership rates are inching upward, showing the crisis isn’t universal, it’s disproportionately hitting Black households.
The government’s own job cuts matter here: federal jobs have historically been a path of upward mobility for Black families.
The cruel irony: home prices are cooling and rates are sliding, but many Black buyers can’t take advantage because they’ve been pushed out of the market.
Behind the numbers are broken dreams, parents unable to pass down property, young adults stuck renting, whole communities losing leverage.
🎯 THE REAL QUESTION
What will it take for Black families to flip the script and turn housing into real power?
🔮 WHAT’S NEXT
This isn’t just about housing, it’s about power, legacy, and who gets to build wealth in America. The story of Black homeownership is the story of America’s unfinished business with equity.
But there’s still hope. As mortgage rates soften and buyers regain leverage, the fight now is making sure Black families aren’t shut out of the rebound. That requires policy shifts, corporate accountability, and collective pressure.
Because if owning a home is the key to generational wealth, then protecting Black homeownership isn’t just economics, it’s justice.
Final line: The American Dream means nothing if Black families can’t dream it too.

💊 Trump Administration Poised to Link Autism to Tylenol Use in Pregnancy. The Trump administration is set to announce that acetaminophen (Tylenol) use during pregnancy may increase autism risk, despite inconclusive scientific evidence. President Trump called it a “historic” medical finding, while Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. continues pursuing environmental causes for autism. Officials may also suggest leucovorin, a vitamin B form used in cancer care, as treatment. Scientists, however, stress genetics play the central role, and major studies show no proven link between Tylenol and autism. (NPR)

🙃 Trial Begins Over Claims Amazon Tricked Customers Into Prime Sign-Ups. The Federal Trade Commission’s trial against Amazon began this week, accusing the company of tricking millions into Prime subscriptions through deceptive “dark pattern” designs and making cancellation intentionally difficult. Filed in 2023, the lawsuit claims Amazon’s “Iliad Flow” forced users through a four-page, six-click process with distracting offers, while sign-ups took just two clicks. Amazon denies wrongdoing, arguing it puts customers first. The month-long trial could bring damages if the jury rules against the e-commerce giant. (CNN)
